These VISA's are granted at the airport to passport holders from VISA exempt countries. Upon entry, you simply state the purpose of your visit. You will need to produce your return ticket and confirmation of your accommodation for the duration of your stay.
Upon arrival your passport is stamped accordingly and the visa is issued, and valid for a maximum period up to 60 days with the possibility of a maximum 30-day extension.
Also issued upon arrival, with your passport stamped accordingly. It does NOT not allow remunerated work activities to be conducted while in Mauritius. It allows you to attend conferences, seminars, training, and meetings. A business visa may be issued for up to 120 days per calendar year.
There are two types of residence permits available which allow you to reside here, (but not to work). Each of these permits is granted to the permit holder, with spouses / opposite sex common law partners and children under the age of 24 qualifying for dependent residence permits.
To qualify for residence permit through property acquisition, you are required to purchase property of at least USD 375,000 in one of the approved schemes (IRS / RES or PDS), or USD 500,000 in a G+2 development. The permit is valid for the duration of your ownership of the fixed property.
Foreign nationals, over the age of 50 years, may choose to retire in Mauritius under a Residence Permit. The permit is valid for a period of 10 years. To qualify for the residency permit a transfer of at least USD 1,500 monthly or a sum by instalments amounting to at least USD 18,000 annually is required.
A combined work and residence permit, which allows foreign national permit holders to work and live in Mauritius under one of 3 categories. Each of these permits is granted to the permit holder, with spouses / opposite sex common law partners and children under the age of 24 qualifying for dependent residence permits.
Upon arrival in Mauritius to collect your permit, you need to request a Business VISA.
The permit has a period of 10 years. An Investor should make an initial transfer of USD 50,000 to be able to qualify for the permit. Funds remain yours, but have to be transferred from abroad to your account in Mauritius for the permit to be issued.
The permit is for a period of 3 years or as per the duration of the contract of employment. The professional should earn a basic monthly salary of at least MUR 60,000 (certain industries have exceptions and a lower salary is acceptable).
Permit is valid for a period of 10 years. A Self-Employed individual should make an initial transfer of USD 35,000 to qualify for the permit. Funds remain yours, but have to be transferred from abroad to your account in Mauritius for the permit to be issued.
All permits are subject to approval by the Economic Development Board.
